Remoikantse Phenya is a student at the University of South Africa, where she is doing a visual multimedia art course. She is from the North West. She produces simple pieces of clothing that have graphic characters printed or embroidered on them. Her designs tell the stories of the people. ‘Es’teta’, the name of her company, means to live like an aesthete and, to Remoikantse, this is the most peaceful way of living. Her pieces are by-products of the stories and content that emerge from her community and relationships.
